A number of our decals have white surrounds. Depending on a number of variables, the white may or may not show up well on paper.
Once in the water, the white pops out. On our decals with high percentages of white, we enclose a negative of the decal on a separate
slip of paper to aid in cutting of the decal. As an aid in seeing the white surrounds or outlines on a number of our decals, use a dry
erase marker (we're most satisfied with green, but all the darker colors work) and color the back side of the decal paper. Not the side
with the images, but the other side. The ink will penetrate the paper and the decal will be very easy to see with the contrasting color.
Use a dry erase marker, they do a better job than a normal felt tip pen. The ink will not discolor or damage the decal in any way.

We're working to solve this issue on a production basis, we're not there yet.

Decal Application Instructions

All of our decals are waterslide transfer. Due to their small size and conformity to complex surfaces (read: they are thin) they are best
handled and slid into position with fine tweezers and a paint brush. All of our decals are coated to be resistant to ultraviolet light.
That said, exposure to direct sunlight for long periods is still not advised.

To apply.

 1. Be sure the area to receive the decal is clean of loose material.
 2. Trim the area close to the outer edge of the image. The closer, the neater the application.
 3. Put the decal in tepid water for about 15-25 seconds. This should permit easy application without diluting the bonding adhesive excessively.
 4. Apply on your model - brush on - your preferred decal setting solution where the decal will be placed.
Microscale's products are very good and readily available at well stocked hobby shops.
 5. Remove the decal (on its' carrier paper) from the water with tweezers.
 6. Using a paint brush, slide the decal off the paper and into approximate position. Manipulate the decal as needed. Paint brushes, one supple,
the other stiffer, work well here. Be sure the area of the decal has setting solution.
 7. When decal is properly positioned, use a paint brush to hold it in place and blot gently. Q-Tips, clean cloths, thin cotton section of a T shirt
all work well here. Do not use a wiping motion, the decal will shift. Rather, use a padding or rolling motion.
 8. Give the decal a few minutes to set, then apply a small amount of setting solution. Gently blot this as well, leaving the surface damp.
 9. When the decal is dry, it is ok to seal with commercial sealing products. Many different suggestions abound, check with your local shop or a newsgroup.
